Commonly Prescribed For: Cefdinir is generally prescribed for treating some infections due to bacteria, including skin infections, pneumonia, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pharyngitis and ear infections. Cefdinir is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Cefdinir is available in the form of a capsule, an oral suspension to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once or two times every day. Take Cefdinir as prescribed, even if you feel good.

How it Works: Cefdinir belongs to a group of drugs known as cephalosporins. It interferes with the ability of bacteria to form cells, thereby results in its death.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include upset stomach, fatigue, vomiting, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite and headache. Some serious side effects include rash, vaginal infection, bloody stools, yellowing of the skin, change in the quantity of urine, vaginal irritation or discharge, dark urine, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, severe stomach cramps, sore throat, severe diarrhea or vomiting, tightness in the chest, blisters, seizures, inflammation of the face, lips or lower legs and difficulty breathing or swallowing.
