Cefadroxil

Commonly Prescribed For: Cefadroxil is generally prescribed for treating some infections caused by bacteria, including urinary tract infections and skin infections. Cefadroxil is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Cefadroxil is available in the form of a capsule, as liquid, and as tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once every day or two times every day for every 12 hours for 7 to 10 days. Swallow the capsule and tablets entirely along with water. Take Cefadroxil as prescribed, even if you feel good.
How it Works: Cefadroxil belongs to a group of drugs known as cephalosporin antibiotic. It interferes with the ability of bacteria to form cells. This will weaken the cell wall, thereby causing it to rupture and results in bacterial death.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include upset stomach, mild skin rash, and diarrhea. Some serious side effects include severe skin rash, vaginal infection, itching, painful mouth, yellowing of the skin, tightness in the chest, dark urine, stomach cramps, blistered skin, bloody diarrhea, seizures, decreased urination, inflammation of the face, or tongue, hives, sore throat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, and unusual bleeding or bruising.
