Commonly Prescribed For: Carvedilol is generally prescribed for treating heart failure and high blood pressure. This medication can also be used for treating patients whose heart doesn’t pump blood efficiently due to a heart attack.
How to Take it: Carvedilol is available in the form of a tablet, as an extended-release capsule to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken two times every day along with food. The extended-release capsule is normally taken once every day in the dawn along with food. Do not chew or split the extended-release capsule, instead swallow the capsule entirely. Take Carvedilol as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Carvedilol belongs to a group of drugs known as beta-blockers. It works by decreasing the invigorating effects of noradrenalin. This medication lowers blood pressure and angina by reducing the heartbeat rate.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include blurred vision, extreme thirst, weakness, tiredness, and frequent urination. Some serious side effects include weakness, tingling in the arms, lightheadedness, dry eyes, dizziness, cough, headache, difficulty falling asleep, diarrhea, vision changes and nausea.
