Commonly Prescribed For: Cardura is generally prescribed for treating symptoms associated with an enlarged prostrate in men. This medication can be used alone or combined with other medications for treating high blood pressure.

How to Take it: Cardura is available in the form of a tablet, as an extended-release tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once every day in the dawn or at evening, either with food or without food. The extended-release tablet is normally taken once every day along with breakfast. Do not chew or crush the extended-release tablet, instead swallow the tablet entirely. Take Cardura as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it Works: Cardura belongs to a group of drugs known as alpha-blockers. It relaxes the blood vessels, so blood flows more efficiently through the body. It is said to reduce blood pressure.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, decreased sexual ability, tiredness, and runny nose, inflammation of the hands, or lower legs, abnormal vision, shortness of breath, weakness and muscle pain. Some serious side effects include irregular heartbeat, painful erection of penis, shortness of breath and hives.
