Captopril

Commonly Prescribed For: Captopril is generally prescribed for treating high blood pressure. This medication can also be used for treating conjunctive heart failure, and kidney problems caused due to diabetes. Captopril is commonly used with other medications.
How to Take it: Captopril is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken an hour prior to taking meals. Take Captopril as prescribed.
How it Works: Captopril belongs to a class of medications known as ACE inhibitors. This medication blocks certain enzymes present in the body, which are essential to produce a material that leads to the tightening of blood vessels.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include feeling light-headed, swelling, fainting, rapid weight gain, increased or decreased urination, chest pain, fever, uneven heartbeats, chills, easy bruising or bleeding, flu-like symptoms and pale skin. Some serious side effects include cough, mild skin itching, loss of taste sensation, constipation, loss of appetite, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, drowsiness, sores in the mouth, headache, dry mouth and sleeping problems.
