Bromocriptine

Commonly Prescribed for: Bromocriptine is usually prescribed for women to treat amenorrhea, infertility, abnormal discharge of milk from the breast, hypogonadism, Parkinson disease and acromegaly. It is also used to treat certain tumors experienced by men and women, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, cocaine addiction and a painful breast condition.
How to Take It: Since it comes in capsule, Bromocriptine is orally taken. It is usually taken once or twice a day, while to treat certain conditions it may also be taken several times. Take Bromocriptine exactly as prescribed. Do not take more or less, and definitely do not withdraw suddenly since it may worsen your condition. If your stomach feels upset from taking bromocriptine then consider taking it with meals preferably with food or milk, both provide best comfort and relief.
How It Works: Bromocriptine produces a prompt and sustained reduction in circulating levels of serum growth hormone. In Parkinson treatment, it produces therapeutic effect and directly stimulating the dopamine receptors in the corpus striatum.
Some Side Effects: Bromocriptine may cause such side effects: dizziness, upset stomach, headache, fatigue, vomiting, constipation. If more severe side effects ever occur, such as swelling of feet or ankles, fast irregular or pounding heartbeat, confusion and watery nasal discharge, call your doctor immediately.
