Commonly Prescribed for: Bentyl is anticholinergic which is commonly prescribed to reduce stomach cramping, it’s a muscle relaxant and minimizes the pain and effects of cramping.
How to Take It: Ideally bentyl is taken orally, if you’re unable (as many are) then you’ve been given an IM (intermuscular) injection. You must keep your schedule based around your doses. Never take 2 doses it’s better to skip then double dose as you risk potential side effects. If the liquid contains particles is clouded or discolored throw it away immediately.
How It Works: Bentyl is a anticholinergic, it’s main role is to create chemicals which counter the effect of certain stomach enzymes. It’s highly effective but too much will lead to unwanted results. Researchers are still studying all the benefits this drug possesses.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects: blurred vision, light-headed, constipation, nausea, dry mouth, dizziness Severe side effects: pounding in the chest; rapid heartbeat; short-term memory loss; unusual weakness; vomiting; severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); agitation; confusion.
