Avapro
Other Names: Irbesartan
Commonly Prescribed For: Avapro can be used alone or combined along wit other medications for treating high blood pressure. This medication can also be used for treating kidney disease in patients suffering from type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
How to Take it: Avapro is available in the form of a tablet to be taken vi mouth. This medication is generally taken once every day, either with food or without food. Take Avapro as prescribed, around the same time daily.
How it Works: Avapro belongs to a group of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It blocks the action of some chemicals, which are responsible for tightening the blood vessels, so that blood can flow more smoothly.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include runny nose, excessive tiredness, sore throat and heartburn. Some serious side effects include, inflammation of the face, lips, feet, or lower legs, difficulty breathing or swallowing and fainting.
