Aripiprazole
Other Names: Abilify.
Commonly Prescribed For: Aripiprazole is generally prescribed for treating symptoms schizophrenia. It can be used alone or combined with other medications for treating episodes of mania in adults and teenagers. This medication can also be used along with another antidepressant for treating depression.
How to Take it: Aripiprazole is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once every day, either with food or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet, instead swallow the tablet entirely. Take Aripiprazole as prescribed, around the same time daily
How it Works: Aripiprazole belongs to a group of drugs known as atypical antipsychotics. It works in such a manner to change the activity of some natural substance present in the brain.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, pain in the arms, nervousness, increased salivation, drowsiness, increased appetite, drowsiness, weight gain, heartburn, stomach pain, and constipation. Some serious side effects include seizures, tightness in the throat, irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest pain, inflammation of the face, hands, or lower legs, changes in vision, itching, unusual movements, hives, high fever, rash, muscle stiffness and sweating.
