Commonly Prescribed For: Arava is generally prescribed for treating rheumatoid arthritis. This medication reduces the symptoms associated with rheumatoid arthritis and hence slows down the damage to joints by the disease. It is commonly used with other medications.

How to Take it: Arava is available in the form of a tablet to e taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once every day. Take Arava as prescribed.

How it Works: Arava interferes with the ability of the white blood cells known as lymphocytes to create the disease that leads to inflammation and joint damage.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include diarrhea, urinary tract infections, hair loss, flu-like symptoms, headache, muscle pain or weakness, dizziness, dry or itchy skin, upset stomach, back pain, vomiting, runny nose, stomach pain, mouth sores and loss of appetite. Some serious side effects include rash, increased heart rate and difficulty breathing.
