Anafranil

Commonly Prescribed For: Anafranil is generally prescribed for treating people having obsessive-compulsive disorder (a condition which causes unwanted thoughts and abnormal behavior).
How to Take it: Anafranil is available in the form of a capsule to be taken via mouth. In the beginning, Anafranil is taken 3 times every day along with meals. After weeks of treatment, it is normally taken once every day at bed time.
How it Works: Anafranil belongs to a group of drugs known as tricyclic antidepressants. It works in such a manner to increase the quantity of serotonin, a substance present in the brain that is necessary to maintain mental balance.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, change in appetite, dry mouth, stuffy nose, nausea, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, decreased memory or concentration, constipation and reduced sexual ability. Some serious side effects include seizures, sore throat, irregular heartbeat, fever, difficulty urinating, unusual tiredness or weakness, loss of bladder control, severe muscle stiffness, hallucinations, difficulty breathing and eye pain.
