Amoxicillin
Other Names: Trimox, Amoxil, Amoxil Pediatric Drops
Commonly Prescribed For: Amoxicillin is an antibiotic used to treat different types of infections in the body such as gonorrhea, pneumonia, bronchitis, infections of the ears, throat, nose, skin and urinary tract. It may also be prescribed to help treat ulcers.
How to Take it: Amoxicillin comes as tablet, capsule, chewable tablet, pediatric drop and a suspension (liquid) all taken orally. During the prescribed treatment it is recommended to take the Amoxicillin dose at the same time each day.
How it Works: Amoxicillin is a penicillin-like antibiotics. It stops the bacterial growth in your body.
Some Side Effects: Amoxicillin may cause upset stomach, diarrhea and vomiting. Few side effects can be serious. These include hives, severe skin rash and seizures, unusual bruising or bleeding, yellowing of the eyes or skin, lack of energy and excessive tiredness.
