Amiodarone

Commonly Prescribed For: Amiodarone is normally prescribed for treating certain kinds of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythm)
How to Take it: Amiodarone is available in the form of a tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once or two times every day. Take Amiodarone around the same time daily, either with food or without food. Take this medication as prescribed.
How it Works: Amiodarone belongs to a group of drugs known as antiarrhythmics. It works in such a manner to relax overactive heart muscles.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include constipation, unusual saliva secretion, loss of appetite, abnormal taste, headache, dry eyes, decreased sex drive, flushing, and difficulty falling asleep. Some serious side effects include rash, muscle weakness, weight loss or gain, numbness, restlessness, poor coordination, intolerance to heat, inflammation of the feet or lower legs, thinning hair, goiter, eye pain, changes in menstrual cycle, uncontrollable movements and excessive sweating.
