Allegra-D
Other Names: Fexofenadine and Pseudoephedrine
Commonly Prescribed For: Allegra-D is used along with pseudoephedrine for relieving the symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis like runny nose, itching of the nose or sneezing.
How to Take it: Allegra-D is available in the form of an extended-release tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once or two times every day along with water on an empty stomach. Do not crush or chew the tablets, instead swallow the tablets entirely. Take this medication as prescribed around the same time daily.
How it Works: Allegra-D belongs to a group of drugs known as antihistamines. It blocks the harmful effects of histamine that leads to allergy symptoms in the body. Pseudoephedrine belongs to a group of drugs known as decongestants. It works in such a manner to dry the nasal passages.
Some Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, pale skin, nausea, back pain, stomach pain, throat irritation and heartburn. Some serious side effects include nervousness, pain when urinating, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, difficulty sleeping, hoarseness, weakness, difficulty breathing, anxiety, itching, hallucinations, rash, seizures, and inflammation of the throat, feet or lower legs, fainting and blurred vision.
