Commonly Prescribed For: Allegra is generally prescribed for relieving allergy symptoms due to seasonal allergic arthritis, including roof of the mouth, runny nose, throat, sneezing, and itching of the nose in adults and in children. This medication can also be used for relieving certain symptoms of urticaria.

How to Take it: Allegra is available in the form of a tablet, as a suspension liquid to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once or two times every day along with water. Take Allegra as prescribed, around the same time daily.

How it Works: Allegra belongs to a group of drugs known as antihistamines. It blocks the harmful effects of histamine, a natural substance present in the body that leads to allergy symptoms.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, cough, and dizziness, pain during menstrual period, diarrhea, pain and vomiting. Some serious side effects include hives, difficulty swallowing or breathing, rash, hoarseness and inflammation of the face, lips, feet, or lower legs.
