Advair

Other Names: Fluticasone and Salmeterol Oral Inhalation.

Commonly Prescribed For:  Advair is used for preventing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, wheezing and breathing difficulties due to asthma.

How to Take it: Advair is available in the form of a powder to be inhaled via mouth. This medication is generally taken two times every day. Take this medication as directed, around the same time daily.

How it Works: Advair belongs to a group of drugs known as long-acting beta-agonists (LABAs). It relaxes and opens the air passages of the lungs, thereby making it quite easier to breathe. Fluticasone works by decreasing the inflammation in the airways.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include runny nose, sleep problems, sneezing, red or dry eyes, sore throat, tooth pain, throat irritation, sweating, sinus pain, tiredness, headache, weakness, upset stomach, and dizziness. Some serious side effects include coughing, fever, wheezing, chills, blurred vision, hives, chest tightness, chest pain, inflammation of the throat, hands or lower legs, fainting, difficulty swallowing, irregular heartbeat and tingling in the hands.
