How to take it: For children aged 6 or above the dosage is initially 5mg taken daily two times. For adults the dosage is 20-30mg taken 2-3 times. Doses may be taken with/without food, but always 30-45 minutes previous to meals.
How it works: Ritalin works as a stimulant to the brain neurons for securing concentration and producing a calming effect.
Side effects: Side effects include sleeplessness, appetite loss, stomach cramps, headaches, hair loss, liver dysfunction, anemia, nervousness, drowsiness, weight loss, temporary stunted growth in children in the long run and irritation.
