Commonly Prescribed For: Aciphex is generally prescribed for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (a condition where the stomach secretes excess amount of acid), ulcers and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Aciphex is combined with other drugs to eradicate a bacterium, H. pylori, which lead to ulcers.

How to Take it: Aciphex is available in the form of a delayed-release tablet to be taken via mouth. This medication is generally taken once every day for four to eight weeks. Aciphex must be taken after taking the morning meal to treat ulcers. Aciphex is taken two times a day, when combined with other drugs to eliminate H. pylori, for a period of seven days in the morning and evening. Take Aciphex as prescribed.

How it Works: AcipHex belongs to the class of medication known as proton-pump inhibitors which reduces the acid produced in the stomach. AcipHex also helps eliminating a bacteria called H. pylori which is a common cause of stomach ulcers.

Some Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, difficulty sleeping, upset stomach, dizziness, diarrhea, drowsiness, stomach pain, muscle or bone pain, vomiting, increased or decreased appetite and constipation.
